Minutes previous meeting: Proposed by Yvonne Stewart, seconded by Raymond MacDonald.
Matters Arising: Residents personal information must not be brought up at meetings. Ali Locke sent an email to the Police concerning motorbikes on July the 10th. Five people have been charged in last couple of weeks concerning motorbikes. Police are taking this very seriously. Complaints concerning these can be phoned in anon as with any other complaints.
Peter is going to try and find out is there any where else the motorbikers could go, we could then have a meeting to discuss this.
Correspondence: All correspondence that has been received in past week has mostly been concerning the fun day, apart from leaflets from Lisa concerning stock transfer.
Council: Stock transfer? Does everyone understand this? Lisa will take down various leaflets concerning this for us.
Repair co-ordinator: Vic has had nothing to report this month except to state much work is needed on exteriors of the properties of our area.
Police Report: There have been no national campaigns running because of the G8 Summit. 35 local police officers have been put to this. The Queen visited Fort William today so extra officers would have been needed there too. Compared to other areas we have been very quiet with virtualy no child/youth calls compared to Hilton, Dalneigh etc. 3 people were caught speeding on Thornbush Rd. Apart from that, and 2 targetted shoplifters caught, all is well. Except for further complaints about motorbikes we are doing well.
Treasurer: We now have a balance of £982.97. We are using £100.00 for the fun day.
Police: National Child Safety Campaign is ongoing checking childrens car seats etc. There have been a few sneak in type thefts going on. Also with op. Notebook still ongoing there are to be increased police presence in some areas for the summer months.
Community Warden: Liz has been busy dealing with anti-social behaviour, also helping Peter Corbett. Also dealing with graffiti etc. She is going to see shopkeepers in Grant Street to encourage them to brighten/clean up shop fronts and the area in general. Working with youth groups and TEC services have also been on her agenda as has been getting the Corbett Garden cleared and the trees dealt with.
Council / Paul: New void squad to be set up to deal with no of voids
Lisa: IV3 forum need feedback on this.
Peter Corbett: 2 new residents associations have been set up. Job centre are working in our area trying to encourage Incapicity Benefit claimants back to work. Merkinch partnership has been set up and have had their first meeting.
