Merkinch Greenspace, formerly known as South Kessock Environmental Company, was established in June 2005 and operates as a Company Ltd by Guarantee with charitable status. The group currently has 4 directors:

• Peter Corbett
• Liz Murray
• Catherine MacNeil

Meetings are normally held on a monthly basis and are attended by the directors as well as advisers such as Colin Downie (Merkinch Enterprise), Anne Sutherland (Merkinch Partnership) and Fiona Robb (HIE IEH).

The remit of the group is to promote and enhance the Merkinch environment for the benefit of the residents of Merkinch, encourage community involvement in the maintenance of the green spaces in Merkinch and promote the area to the wider community.

Merkinch Greenspace has received funding from various sources to carry out its programme of works in Merkinch - Community Regeneration Fund, Highland Council, Community Economic Development Fund, greeninverness and the Local Enterprise Company.
