Jean Mackay,Development Officer at the Jannys Hoose, has broken the news that the staff will cease working in the building as of 31st March. Jean says:
"It is with great regret that I have to announce that the future of the Janny's Hoose is not secured, and the staff will be re-deployed or made redundant on 31 March. I believe that the building may be available for use for the NHS smoking cessation and the baby clinic and that it may also be used by groups. I have no details about this at present, but will let you know as soon as I hear.
I am organising a collection for Myra and Judy in recognition of all their hard work in the Janny's Hoose. If you would like to contribute please hand it in to me.
Thank you all for your willing co-operation over the years. It has been an incredible experience working in the Janny's Hoose, one which I will remember for a long time.
We are planning a wee party on Thursday 26 March from 10.30am to 12.00, where we will be handing out certificates to the group who all successfully completed the first part of the Health Issues in the Community course".

Trinity Church is looking at the potential for setting up a community cafe in the Church Hall.
In the recent Merkinch Conversation a large percentage of the local residents who were questioned cited a community cafe as one of the main things missing in the Merkinch area.
Trinity Church will be running a pilot project to guage the level of interest in the idea and to assess the level of use by the local community. The "Seven C's Cafe" will be open for 3 days a week from 10.00am to 1.00pm during July and August. Local people can come along to meet up and enjoy home baking, soup and filled rolls. A "Children's Corner" will keep the kids entertained and newspapers will be available for the adults.
Merkinch Partnership Officer Anne Sutherland is assisting Parish Assistant Heidi Jones to source funding for the pilot.
For more information contact Heidi on 01463 731837 or 07949 628877.
